SOAR: Online Learning Pathway
SOAR Virtual/Hybrid Learning
Program Overview
The Argyle ISD Virtual/Hybrid Learning program provides flexible educational pathways for students in grades 9–12 who live within the Argyle ISD attendance zone.
Students may choose from two learning options:
- Full-Time Online Learning: Students complete all coursework virtually, with some required on-campus sessions for assessments and support.
- Hybrid Learning: Students combine online instruction with selected on-campus classes and activities tailored to their needs. Students must attend at least one in-person class.
Texas Senate Bill 569, passed in 2025, allows school districts to offer more flexible learning models. Argyle ISD created the Virtual/Hybrid Learning program to expand access to flexible learning options while maintaining the quality education families expect.
Admissions Requirements
Students interested in the SOAR Virtual/Hybrid Learning program must:
- Be enrolled in grades 9–12.
- Be a resident within the Argyle ISD attendance zone and provide proof of residency.
- Demonstrate passing grades in all subjects during the prior two years.
- Demonstrate satisfactory progress on standardized assessments, including STAAR.
Students seeking full-time virtual enrollment must also meet the Texas Education Agency eligibility requirements under Texas Education Code Section 30B.103. Students must meet at least one of the following requirements:
- Have attended a public school in Texas for a minimum of six weeks during the current school year or preceding school year.
- Have not been required to attend public school in Texas due to nonresidency during the preceding school year.
- Be a dependent of a member of the United States military who has been deployed.
- Have been placed in substitute care in Texas.
Program Structure & Instruction
- Full-Time Online: Students complete coursework virtually, with possible in-person tutorials and assessments. Enrollment may not exceed seven classes per year.
- Hybrid: Students combine virtual and on-campus coursework. Students must enroll in at least one in-person class. The program does not allow drop-in attendance, and parents are responsible for transportation. Enrollment may not exceed seven classes per year.
Coursework and instruction are provided through Edgenuity. On-demand tutoring is available, and selected Argyle ISD staff members provide additional support through open office hours several times each week. Office hours are also available daily by appointment.
Argyle ISD staff members are not the direct instructors for Edgenuity courses.
Students should be aware of the following program expectations:
- Additional projects and reading assignments may be required beyond the academic requirements included in Edgenuity courses.
- Grades earned through virtual courses count toward a student's GPA and class rank.
- Students must earn 26 credits to graduate and earn a CCMR point.
- Students will be issued a Chromebook.
- Academic integrity is closely monitored. Discipline consequences may apply when students do not demonstrate academic integrity.

Program Capacity & Waitlist
The SOAR program is currently at capacity.
Families may join the waitlist to express interest in virtual or hybrid learning. If space becomes available, counselors will contact students in the order in which the interest form was submitted.
